The Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts (MESDA) will host an event titled “Stars, Stripes, & Stitches: Textiles & American Identity” on March 20-21, 2026. This event will delve into the historical significance of textiles created by women during the colonial and early American periods.

The event will feature a keynote address by Alden O’Brien, along with opportunities to engage in pre-conference workshops and an open house showcasing textiles in MESDA’s study galleries. The workshops and tours will cover various topics, including needlework, quilt turning, and understanding patterns in coverlets.
