Katy Morlas Shannon received the Phillis Wheatley Award for her biography titled “Antoine of Oak Alley: The Unlikely Origin of Pecans and the Enslaved Gardener Who Cultivated Them.” She has been featured in various media and is currently attending Tulane University to pursue her doctorate in history.
